Make sure you check all your connections . the receiving plug must have shorted out but we never lost power. First noticed it when I unplugged it and it had burn marks marks . it was also hard to unplug.

With the new install I used dielectric grease on all wires . as far as I can tell one of the screw holding the white wire had backed off just a bit.

You may want to check the plug on the boat as they can cause problems when they get old as well.
