In 2017, Parks Canada is celebrating the 150th anniversary of Confederation by offering free entry to ALL national parks, national historic sites and national marine conservation areas across Canada. On Quebec and Ontario’s historic canals, this means that pleasure craft and non-motorized boats will be able to go through locks free of charge to access major cities as well as their favorite bodies of water. It’s our way of wishing you a happy 150th!

Get ready to travel on one of the most beautiful navigation networks in the world for the entire 2017 season, at no cost, by asking your free seasonal lockage permit at the Parks Canada booth at many local boat shows coming up this season like the Montreal Boat Show February 2-5. Just make sure to have your registration number handy as well as information about the length of your craft.

By providing access to all Parks Canada locks, you can use the seasonal lockage permit to participate in all the summer’s major events, from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu to Ottawa, including an unforgettable stay in Montréal, a side trip to Lake Champlain, even a ride on the Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that connects an entire network of magnificent bodies of water.
