I got my first boat in thefall. 1989 capri bowrider with a 2.3 ford omc cobra stern drive.
I bought it as a project. theengine has no spark. I replaced the coil. wires. points, condenser. everyhtings installed and gapped. still no spark. I have 12v at the pos and neg side of coil with key in on position.
does anyone have any idea why I might not have spark..????or anyone else had this problem with their engine????
Im having the timing checkedthis weekend.

You have power coming out of the coil ? if yes...

You have power at the center wire that enters the dist.?

Allow me to ask, do you have a lanyard / dead mans switch near the throttle ?

The engine cranks / turns when you turn the key to start ?

The throttle / gear shift is in neutral for sure ?

Be good, be happy, for tomorrow is promised to no man !

Check your "kill switch".

I once spent three days with that problem.
