Hi David

yes, there is a grey smoke when starting the engine, as well, I think when engine heats up there is not that much oil in the water anymore...

That would lead me to think oil in the cylinders  If you are not comfortable doing it yourself find a reputable marine mechanic in your area to check it.

Thank you very much, David! Well, reputable mechanic. Hard to find one, I am afraid.
Would you have any idea about the (approximately) cost?
I can't do it myself, I am an UNIX administrator, an engine a big ??? to me!

To start I would ask at your marina for recommendations on mechanics and look for ones that hold certifications in marine engines. As to cost as I said it depends on if it is related to the valves or the rings. The compression test will tell you the state of your engine. If you have bad compression in one or more cylinders then you might be better off looking at a rebuilt engine from someone like Michigan Motorz vs having someone local rebuild it. If it's just valve related you may find someone local who can do that. I would think the costs would range anywhere from $1000 to $5000

Any car mechanic can check the compression, on a warm engine, known good screw in type gauge, with the throttle wide open.

He should mark each plug so you will know what plug came out of what hole.

Reading the plug will tell you whats happening.

trying to include a image, how do i do it ?

Be good, be happy, for tomorrow is promised to no man !
