Hi M8's
I just bought a Bayliner 3888 out on the West Coast in Nanaimo. Although I live in Ontario I am looking forward for spending a lot of time on the "Dock Holiday" in the Gulf Islands now that I am retired. My previous experience has been all in sail boats ie a 10.5 m (35 ft) Tanzer so will be looking to the forums here to help me out a lot. I am a past Commander with the Cdn Power and Sail Squadrons and used to instruct the Basic, Seamanship and Advanced Piloting courses. I completed the Junior Navigator course as well.

The "Dock Holiday" is a 1992 Bayliner 3888 double cabin with the 210 HP Hino Turbo Diesels through Hurth HSW630A, Ratio: 2.0 : 1 Transmissions and a Westerbeke model 8.0BTD-614 genset. The engines both have less than 1400 hours on them. The salon helm station has been removed to add to the living space. Here is a 3d view of the interior, I hope you like it as much as we do. my.matterport.com/show/?m=QVSRGcR9Re2

Cheers and hope to see you on the water : )

Thanks for the welcome. Here in Ontario the boating season is from May to October whereas on Vancouver Island it is all year. Additionally my wife lived in Victoria for 18 years and we have many friends on the Island. When we looked at the price of real estate on the Island it made more sense to buy a boat.

No, we arn't planning on moving out there at this time although we do intend on spending a lot of time there. We are driving out the winter beater this spring to keep with the boat for local transport. Then it will be commute via air back and forth a few times a year.
